Dr. Bruce D. Moffatt began his medical career with B.A. Degrees, with Honors, in Biology and Neurosciences, from the University of Rochester, in Rochester, New York and continued to do research in the Department of Anatomy and the Center for Brain Research. After earning his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Moffatt completed both his internship in General Surgery and his residency in Neurological Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. His post-graduate training in Neurological Surgery was conducted at Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island.
After finishing his training, Dr. Moffatt began his private practice of neurological surgery in 1988 at Mission Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo, California. He was later a staff neurosurgeon at the Orlando Regional Medical Center, Level 1 Trauma Center, in Orlando, Florida. He has been specializing in complex spinal procedures since 1999 after working with Advanced NeuroSpine Specialists in Norfolk, Virginia and Atlantic Neurosurgery, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Dr. Moffatt joined The Bonati Institute in 2003, and has brought a unique neurosurgical perspective to the practice. He is board certified by The American Board of Neurological Surgery and is a member of numerous professional associations including The American Association of Neurological Surgeons, The Congress of Neurological Surgery, and the North American Spine Society.
